Jewellers' Solder

Jewellers' solder is specifically designed for bonding precious metals used in jewellery, such as gold, silver, and platinum. It typically has a lower melting point than the metals being joined. This characteristic is essential, as it allows the solder to melt, flow, and join the pieces without melting the actual workpieces.

Composition:

Jewelers' solder is an alloy, which means it's a mixture of two or more metals. The specific composition depends on its intended use – for example, silver solder is used for silver pieces, and gold solder for gold pieces.

Available Types

Hard, Medium, and Easy: These terms refer to the melting point of the solder. Hard solder has the highest melting point and is used first in a multi-step soldering process, followed by medium and then easy, which has the lowest melting point. This allows the earlier solder joins to remain intact while performing additional joins.

Plate, Wire, and Paste: These forms cater to different needs. Plate and wire solders are cut or shaped as needed, while paste solder is easy to apply and is often used for intricate work.

Paste solder allows for easy application with both solder and flux contained in the syringe.
