Tables & Data

Using data on metal density can allow you to calculate the amount of metal that you require to complete a project, or to estimate the weight of a finished piece from the wax or master pattern that you have made in wax.

Calculators

The metal calculator page is available here.

  • The bangle calculator will help you order the metal for a bangle based on the inside diameter of the bangle.
  • The alloy conversion calculator allows you to convert the weight of a piece on one metal/material in the weight in another using the density values for the 2 materials. This will help to estimate the weight and therefore cost of a cast piece from the weight of a wax, or a piece that has been cast in a different alloy.
  • The plate calculator will give you an estimated weight for a piece of plate that you may want to order. This can help with costing up a project.

Data Tables

Common sizing and density data

We have tables and calculators to assist with calculating your metal requirements.

  • Alloy Density Table
    • Weight per cubic centimetre of metal. Used to estimate the weight from volume of a piece, or the weight in one alloy from the weight in a different alloy.
  • Diamond Weight Estimator
    • Allows you to know the size setting to make for a particular diamond weight..
  • Ring-Size-Table
    • Ring sizes have many different standards used in different countries. Use this table to convert between them, and to order the length of metal to make a ring in a selected size.
  • Bangle-Size-Chart
    • Bangle sizing has many different standards. Use this table to convert between these standards, and to order the length of metal to make a bangle in a selected size.
