Soldering Tool Kits

Soldering tool kits are designed to be an addition to the MI10015 beginners tool kit, adding the capabilities for basic soldering operations. If you do not have all the contents of the beginners tool kit you may need to add additional tools on top of the contents of either of these kits.

The Stingray Torch

The Stingray torch operates on refined or "cigarette lighter grade" butane which is available from many supermarkets, petrol stations and other places that sell lighters. It is not suitable for cooking stove grade non-refined butane. Stingray is a small portable option ideal for when you have to pack your work space away, or frequently are relocating. Operating cost is higher because of the need for refined butane, but quick access to a torch for can make it worth the added cost.

The Orca Torch

Orca is our most popular soldering torch. It operates off standard LPG. The SO004 adapter allows for attachment to a conventional 9kg cylinder as used on BBQ and other household use. It is not as portable as the Stingray torch and is better used where you have a dedicated workspace to leave it set up.

Without requiring a dedicated oxygen tank, or regulators or flashback arrestors Orca is a cost effective torch from starting out to experienced silver and gold fabrication needs.

Solder

Soldering tool kits contain a starter assortment of silver solder, in 1 pallion each of easy, medium, and hard. We have both 5g and 2.5g pallions available.
